1 Why is fall protection important?

Prevention

Virtually all fall-related losses are preventable!

In addition to the lost lives and injuries caused by falls, businesses lose millions of dollars each year from significant increases in workers’ compensation premiums, fines, lost productivity and other related expenses. Business reputation can suffer. Following correct fall protection practices not only saves lives and reduces injuries, but also saves money and makes good business sense.

Fact

In Canada over 42,000 workers get injured annually due to fall incidents. The majority (67%) of falls happen on the same level resulting from slips and trips. The remaining 30% are falls from a height.[1]

Fact

In the U.S.A, in 2018, fatal falls accounted for 320 deaths in construction. Falls from roofs were main cause of death for workers under 44.
