Arrival Expenses

Costs to Move

When you are moving, you may plan for movers, boxes, gas, and other like moving. Moving expenses will look different for everyone. Students typically spent $600 to move (without flights).

Temporary Accommodations

51% paid for temporary accommodations while waiting for their housing to become available. NSCC does not recommend using temporary (or short-term) housing as a long-term housing solution. Short-term housing should only be used as a solution between your arrival and your lease start date.

The most students spent nightly was $400 CAD per night, with most students spending $75-100 CAD. If you have not secured a place to live before arriving for your NSCC program, we encourage you to budget for, and book, temporary housing for at least four months. It will be beneficial for you to review local hotel rates and understand that Short Term housing in August, September, and October is priced for the peak of Tourism Season in Nova Scotia.
