NSCC Housing & Student Life gathered data from 300 International Students living in several communities across Nova Scotia to create a detailed cost-of-living information from students. This Cost-of-Living Survey provides real estimates of what finances you should prepare for to live well in Nova Scotia. The costs will vary depending on if you are living with roommates, in a homestay, on your own, with a partner, or with a family.

Within the survey students recommended planning for $2000 monthly of expenses to live comfortably in Nova Scotia. Students are spending a median between $1651–$1801 monthly on living costs, depending on geographical location.
