10.3 Urinal metering valves
- The water volume is pre-set in these units.
- Metering valves only require a 1/2” supply line.
- Flushometers for urinals require a 3/4” supply line.
If a vacuum occurs in the supply line, the vacuum breaker collapses and allows air to enter through the air vents in the outlet pipe. The cross bar at the top of the vacuum breaker prevents the vacuum breaker from being drawn into the valve.
ELECTRONIC FLUSHOMETERS
The electronically activated flushometer operates similar to the flush handle type. When the sensor detects a person leaving the fixture, the flushometer is activated. The difference being that a solenoid valve is opened which allows the upper chamber to drain and then closes, the diaphragm lifts and the sequence continues.
