Financial Literacy Challenge

At NSCC, we recognize the significance that financial literacy can play in our everyday lives. Taking steps to expand your skills with money management, including how to create and stick to a budget, understanding credit, and steps to help you pay off debt faster, are just some of the keys to making good decisions to improve your financial wellbeing and reach your goals for the future.

To help increase overall money skills, students can participate in our Financial Literacy Challenge. Throughout the year, NSCC provides you with monthly learning activities that help you learn while you earn – with each activity you complete, you earn a ballot for our monthly prize draw and are also entered into our grand prize draw for student bursaries.

A quote from Kimberley – an Addictions Community Outreach student and a Financial Literacy Challenge winner:

Being a student on tight budget, working multiple jobs to get through school, taking out student loans and having to manage the proper work/ school balance, I’ve found that NSCC has been amazing at providing access to so many FREE resources to make navigating these struggles a little easier. I’ve learned new ways to properly budget, save and money manage just from doing activities offered through the financial literacy challenge.

I am already on the right track to have my student loan debt entirely paid off within 6-8 months of graduating. I am very proud of this accomplishment, made possible through some of the info I’ve learned along the way.  A lot of the activities put forward for students to take part in, such as the financial literacy challenge, were very easy to complete and honestly didn’t take up too much extra time from my regular day, even being as busy as I am. The prizes associated with doing these challenges are worth taking the time!

Having gone to a couple other colleges in the past, there was nothing close to the amount of resources NSCC offers for students and I am thankful that my college experience this time around was made more positive due to them! I have nothing but good things to say about my experience this year and am looking forward to becoming a member of the NSCC Alumni community.
