Applying for Student Awards

With over $3 million available annually, applying for students awards is a great first step in being financially ready to attend NSCC.  You apply through our Student Awards Portal and it will match you to awards opportunities based on information you provided on your admissions application (e.g., program, campus, address), which saves you the work of reviewing our full catalogue. You can use the Portal to search and apply for different types of awards including scholarships, bursaries, sponsorships, as well as some government bursaries.

The first stage of the application process includes the completion of the General Application, which consists of some self-identification questions and essays. If you are eligible and want to be considered for awards with financial need criteria, you will be prompted to complete the Financial Need Application 2024/2025 which consists of budget and a few supplementary questions to help capture your unmet financial need. By completing this application, you will be considered for any of our Auto-Match opportunities.

You can then take the process a step further by reviewing your Recommended Opportunities and completing an application for each one that you qualify for. The applications will consist of short answer questions, essays and references.

After you apply, visit the Portal often to check on the status of your references (and resend requests/change references where necessary), your applications and look for any new recommended opportunities that may become available.

If you’re selected for an award, you will receive an email and in-system notification. Accepting an award requires some additional steps including the completion of a donor questionnaire, uploading a photo and other requirements, depending on award type. Award offers must be accepted in the portal within ten days, so be sure to act quickly.
