Section 2: Orientation

 

With only a few weeks to go, we hope you are getting excited about joining our learning community.

As a new student, your program will begin with our New Student Orientation – an event designed to help you prepare for a great year ahead.  Returning student? Make sure you check your email (and your class schedule) to find out when your classes will get underway.

But whether you are new to NSCC or have some experience under your belt, here are some suggestions on things you can do to be even better prepared for the year ahead.

In this section, you’ll:

  • Find out more about our academic expectations and the best way to keep on top of important dates and deadlines
  • Be introduced to some additional digital tools we use to share information, how we gather student feedback and details on multifactor authentication for students
  • Become familiar with how to access and understand your class schedule
  • Learn about NSCC & Me, our student orientation Brightspace course
  • Find out more about our commitment to diversity and inclusion and your role in creating a supportive learning community
  • Explore how you can earn credit through Recognized Prior Learning (RPL)
  • Discover who’s who at NSCC and how we can support you
  • Set goals for your learning
  • Explore our supports for mental health and wellness
  • Learn more about EAL and other academic supports for international learners
  • Review your college preparation checklist
  • Set your intentions for a successful year
