About Multifactor authentication (mfa)

NSCC is implementing mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all student accounts for the 2024/2025 academic year. MFA is used to make sure you are who you say you are by requiring two or more pieces of evidence that prove your identity. This evidence is known as a factor, and having a second factor greatly increases the security of your account. With multiple factors just knowing, or even guessing, your password is not enough to access your account.

Effective now, all new and returning NSCC students can enable MFA (if you haven’t done so already). We are asking all eCampus students to enable MFA by Sept 30. All other students must do so by Oct 18 or you will experience login issues.

Here are some helpful materials to get started in enabling MFA:

connect – your college intranet

If you haven’t heard about Connect yet, you soon will! Connect is NSCC’s intranet for staff and students and it is THE most important source of information we’ve got. It is the place to find:

  • information on services such as advising, financial aid and awards, learning supports, wellness and counselling, and other great student supports designed to help you make the most of your learning experience
  • links to online tools like Brightspace, MyNSCC, password management and cybersecurity training to name a few
  • your campus page with details on events, activities, hours of operation and more

We know that there is a lot to know! Your best tool to help you manage and make sense of what it means to be a student at NSCC can be found on Connect.

GATHERING STUDENT FEEDBACK THROUGH surveys

A few times throughout the year, Institutional Research emails invitations to all students to participate in college-wide surveys. It’s our way of checking in with students to see how things are going, where you might need some additional supports and how satisfied you are with your experience at NSCC.

  • Fall Student Success Survey (end of September) to see how everything is going after the first month of classes.
  • Course Feedback (end of each term) so you can evaluate your courses.
  • Program and Student Services Satisfaction (early February) to gather feedback on your student experience to enhance our services and facilities.

We want to hear from you. Share your thoughts about your student experience with us for a chance to win prizes.
