Recognized Prior Learning (RPL)

Through Recognized Prior Learning (RPL), you may be eligible to earn credit for learning you’ve completed prior to your studies at NSCC. This learning might come from credit and non-credit courses, on-the-job training, work experience, life and volunteer experience and personal study. NSCC offers two processes for assessing your prior learning – transfer credit and prior learning access and recognition (PLAR).

About Transfer credit
If you’ve completed the equivalent of an NSCC course at another post-secondary institution within the last 6 years, you may be eligible for transfer credit.  Review the transfer credit process.

Prior Learning and Recognition (PLAR) process
This process is for people who wish to use life/ work experience they have acquired that meets all outcomes of an NSCC course or work placement. The evidence you provide must be detailed and verifiable.
