16 Board / Rack Set-Up
Principle
The purpose of a specific and standardized board set-up is to provide consistency between technologists within a given laboratory when they are performing various transfusion science serologic procedures.

The above diagram is a guide on how to set up tubes for routine testing.
Tests that require the addition of patient plasma should be set up next to the patient plasma aliquot when the rack has spaces.
Tests that require the addition of patient cells should be set up next to the patient Cells 2-4% suspension when the rack has spaces.
Antibody screening using the MTS Gel system requires a gel cardholder.
Antibody Identification tube labelling will be described based on the system being used. Saline Antibody Identification (SIAT) will require a separate rack with tubes 1 thru 12, 11 for cells and 1 for auto.
Gel Antibody Identification (GIAT) requires 2 gel cards.
