  1. You have decided to visit the Thrifty Market in downtown Bellingham.  You purchase a quart bottle of Black Cherry Pop for $1.25 per bottle.  Is this a better deal than Canadian Pop, which sells for $5.10 per six pack?  Solve the problem by changing the US price into a Canadian price per Canadian six pack.

4 quarts = 1 US gallon            6 cans = 1 six pack

1 can of pop = 355 ml             1 gallon = 3.7843 liters.

1 liter = 1000 ml

  1. You are planning a winter surfing Vacation.  You will begin on the North Shore in Hawaii, try to catch the fifty year storm at Bell’s Beach, Australia and finish your trip with a little longboarding on New Zealand’s North Island.  You estimate you will need $500 in each currency.

(a)   How much Canadian will you need to spend?

(b)   When you land in Auckland NZ you discover that you still have $65 USD and $90 AUD in your wallet.  How much NZD currency can you get?
