Standard – Violence and Hazing

Violence and hazing are serious violations of NSCC’s Campus Housing Community Standards. Violence refers to any physical, emotional, or psychological harm inflicted upon another individual through acts of aggression or force. Hazing involves any activity intended to humiliate, degrade, abuse, or endanger an individual in order to join or maintain membership in a group, even if the individual agrees to participate. Both violence and hazing create unsafe and harmful environments, and their presence undermines the principles of respect, safety, and inclusivity that NSCC upholds.

Standard Expectations:

• Violence, in any form, is strictly prohibited in Campus Housing. This includes physical assaults, threats, or any actions that result in harm or injury to others.
• Hazing, including any activity that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers an individual in a group context, is prohibited regardless of the individual’s willingness to participate.
• Any behavior or conduct that endangers the physical health, safety, or well-being of others, including through physical or emotional harm, will result in immediate sanctions or removal from Campus Housing.
• All students are expected to foster a respectful and safe environment for all members of the NSCC community, avoiding any form of violence or hazing, and actively reporting any such behavior they witness.

NSCC maintains a zero-tolerance policy for violence and hazing within Campus Housing. These behaviors not only compromise the safety and well-being of individuals but also violate the values of respect and community that NSCC strives to uphold. Any instances of violence or hazing will be addressed with the utmost seriousness, ensuring that all members of the NSCC community can live, learn, and thrive in a safe space.

All incidents involving hazing or threats of violence of any kind will immediately be classified as Level Three
