Standard of Proof

The standard of whether a student is responsible or not responsible for a community standard violation is not to the extent required in a criminal case (beyond a reasonable doubt).

It rests with a preponderance of evidence, or on a balance of probabilities – that is, would a reasonable person, upon reviewing the information provided, come to the same conclusion as the staff member reviewing the case.
